Who it is for

This is for an organization whose reports, case lists, donor history, or operations data are spread across spreadsheets, a shared mailbox, and maybe a database nobody wants to touch. You are asking whether Microsoft's data and AI tools would help, or whether the first job is simply to put the working files in one place the right people can open.

It fits a program director or a finance lead as much as an IT person. You need to know which workbook is the one the board trusts. You do not need a data team.

What the assessment covers

Where the data lives now. We ask which files are the system of record, who can open them, and what happens when the person who built the spreadsheet leaves. A platform project on top of a private laptop folder will not work.

What an AI or analytics platform would touch. We talk through Microsoft tools you may already have, such as Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, and Fabric or Azure data services if you already use them. We do not recommend a new platform because it is new. We say what question you are trying to answer and whether the current files can support it.

Governance. Donor, client, student, and health information does not go into a consumer chatbot. We say what must stay inside the tenant, and what Copilot or another model should not see until permissions are fixed.

Questions we answer before a quote

Do we need a data warehouse to ask?

No. Most of these conversations start from spreadsheets and SharePoint. We say if a larger platform is premature.
