Free Microsoft 365 & IT Assessment for Nonprofits, Charities and Schools

TRUE.org offers a free Microsoft 365 and IT assessment for nonprofits, charities and schools. We look at the tenant you have, or the one you are about to start, and tell you what we would do next. There is no charge for the assessment. Write to hello@true.org or use the form.

United States and Canada. Email hello@true.org. New inquiries get a reply within one business day.

Name, work email, and organization. A message is optional. It goes to hello@true.org.

What you get

  • A licensing and nonprofit eligibility review: which subscriptions on your tenant look like commercial seats where a Microsoft nonprofit offer might apply, and what to ask Microsoft.
  • A security check: who is a global administrator, whether multi-factor sign-in is on, and how guests get into Teams and SharePoint, with the gaps a small staff can close.
  • Migration readiness: what has to be listed before mail or files move to Microsoft 365, such as the domain, shared mailboxes and the cutover window you would approve.
  • Copilot readiness: the difference between Copilot Chat and Microsoft 365 Copilot, and whether file sharing should be tightened before anyone uses it.
  • A short written reply by email: what we saw, what we would leave alone, and a sensible next step, including “nothing yet”.
  • Free IT help with no charge and no purchase required. Microsoft decides nonprofit eligibility; we do not approve grants.
Example

Sample report section: Security

What we saw
Several staff accounts are global administrators. Multi-factor sign-in is not on for every administrator. Any member can invite guests into Teams.
What we would do
Keep two named global administrators and give everyone else the narrower admin role they need. Turn on multi-factor sign-in for administrators first, then for all staff.
What we would leave alone
Mail flow and DNS. Nothing needs to change there.
Next step
These are changes your own team can make. We can email the steps.

Example only, not from a real organization. Your reply covers what we see on your tenant and what you tell us.

What the assessment covers

Licensing and nonprofit eligibility review. We read the subscriptions already on the tenant and say which ones look like commercial seats when a nonprofit offer might apply. Microsoft decides eligibility. We do not approve a grant, and we do not put a price on this page. We tell you what to ask Microsoft, and which people are paid staff, unpaid executives, or volunteers, because Microsoft's nonprofit rules treat those groups differently.

Security. We look at who is a global administrator, whether multi-factor sign-in is on, and how guests get into Teams and SharePoint. We name the gaps a small staff can close. This is not a penetration test, and we do not invent a score.

Migration readiness. If mail or files still sit in another system, or in one person's mailbox, we say what has to be listed before a move: the domain, the shared mailboxes, and the cutover window you would approve. DNS does not change during an assessment.

Copilot readiness. We separate Copilot Chat, which Microsoft includes with Microsoft 365, from Microsoft 365 Copilot, which is a paid add-on. We check whether the people who would use it can already open the files they would ask about, and whether sharing should be tightened first. We do not promise a number of hours saved.

What you receive

A short written reply to the work email you send. It says what we saw, what we would leave alone, and whether a later conversation is about setup, a license move, training, or nothing yet. If we are the wrong team, we say so.

The assessment is a conversation and a review of what you send us. It is not a year of support, and it is not a commitment to buy anything. Microsoft licensing is provided by Acumor Solutions LLC dba TRUE.org, a Microsoft partner (Cloud Solution Provider), not by the nonprofit.

How to start

Send your name, work email, and organization. A message is optional. If you already have a Microsoft tenant, put the domain in the message. The form goes to hello@true.org. We reply to the work email you enter.

Nonprofits, charities and schools can ask. You do not need an in-house Microsoft engineer. You need someone who can say which addresses must keep working and who is allowed to administer the tenant.
